Mary and Martha

.
We sold two of the 12 heifers that we purchased at Jordan Cattle Auction in San Saba, Texas last month. They were a little bit too "implusive". To replace them, we purchased two of Brian Gilbert's heifer calves that were weaned in March.

Mary (No. 11) and Martha (No. 12) are from high-quality Angus dams and both were sired by Cesar, Brian's purebred Angus bull that used to live on Aurora Farm. These heifer calves were born and raised at Jim and Lori Shipman's JLOR Farm across the road from us.
.
I saw Martha (No. 12) soon after she was born on September 30, 2009.

When they reach breeding age (14 months old), both will be bred to our Wagyu bull, Abraham. A Wagyu-Angus cross produces excellent quality beef -- very tender and well-marbled.
