The cows needed hay today so I put out two bales for them. When putting out hay, we carry a second bale in the rear as a weight compensator. Otherwise, lifting the bale in front over a hay rack raises the tractor's center of gravity, which can cause the whole tractor to tip over.
.It is interesting how small our tractor looks when loaded with two, four-foot bales of hay! (Click on photo to enlarge)
