"Maiden Voyage"

.
I logged 4.2 hours of engine time on the tachometer of our Kubota MX5100 tractor today. While Jim was spreading seed on our pastures, I was shredding down the existing grass on one of the smaller pastures so that the ryegrass and crimson clover seeds that he planted can sprout. Too much cover from the summer grass prevents the winter seed from growing.

.
Jim showed me how to shred safely, and what things to be aware of, especially when there are dips and bumps and tree limbs on the ground.

.
Jim is an unusual man -- he seeded our land before doing his. And by 5:00 pm today we were both exhausted, and he had not done his yet.
