Tanner

Tanner (the dog inside the mule) is the resident herding dog of JLOR Farm. He's a border collie, a very good working breed for cattle. The Kubota mule is his "second home". He's always with Jim or me when we go out to the pasture.

In these pictures, I've just instructed him to "Settle down, Tanner," since he would normally have already scolded or snapped at the cow that's trying to check out the back of the mule for goodies. He's a great companion - very mild-mannered and obedient. Of course, it helps to give him his 'treat' at the end of the workday, too!
