Electric fences are used at Aurora Farm to keep predators out and our animals in. We inspect our fences everyday. Occasionally we may find that a guide pin is missing, a weed may be growing too tall and causing a short-circuit, or a tree branch may have fallen on a section of a fence (haven't seen that one since I arrived here, but Jim has advised me to keep an eye on dead tree limbs) hanging overhead. We have a few of those around the perimeter.
This particular electric fence (near the lane and the pond), looked a little droopy earlier. So I shut off the main power source and used my 1/2" ratchet to tighten the electric wire by turning the tensioner spool (it's that silver-looking widget on the foreground).
Voila! Another task done -- all part of the day's work.
