Racked

.
Much of the wood from the oak tree that was cut down last October has been chopped into firewood. I try to get some exercise some days by going at it with the maul.
.
When Phil came to check on our place earlier this month, he did some chopping, too.
. .
The rack in the foreground, as you can see, is full. The one behind it that's covered, has seasoned firewood, which is what we are using for the fireplace this winter. The newly chopped wood is going to be stored and dried ("seasoned') through this summer and used next fall and winter.
.
Once the covered rack is empty, we can use it for the freshly cut wood. There's still quite a bit to do -- I'm thinking of saving a few stumps for friends to have fun with the maul when they come to the farm this spring and summer!
